I am a graduate of Ironton High School and currently reside in Wheelersburg, OH with my wife, Lisa, and our 4 boys (Landon, Logan, Kody, and Carter). My family and I attend church at the 10th & Vine Church of Christ in Ironton, OH, where I serve the congregation as a Deacon. I have always loved playing and watching sports and really enjoy watching my boys compete at the high school and junior high level now. I am very passionate about my personal mission, which is to help others in any way that I can. I feel that God has truly blessed me with great people in my life and an ability to help others achieve their personal goals. Whether that is helping patients recover from an injury, or helping educate the next generation of physical therapist, I have enjoyed my career as a physical therapist and look forward to helping to serve this local community.
I graduated from Ohio University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences- Pre-Physical Therapy. Then I obtained my Doctor of Physical Therapy from Slippery Rock University in 2001, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Rehabilitation Sciences in 2020 with my dissertation titled, “Clinical Measurements of the Posterior Shoulder Endurance Test (PSET)”. I have been a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) since 1998, and a Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist (OCS) through American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) since 2009.
I am currently working as an assistant professor at my alma mater, Ohio University, in the physical therapy division. There I teach DPT students in musculoskeletal related topics and I am involved in musculoskeletal research primarily related to the upper extremity, muscular endurance, and injury prevention. I have had numerous national and state presentations, as well as multiple peer-reviewed publications. Additionally, I have presented numerous continuing education courses across the country to other rehabilitation professionals. I feel that I bring a wealth of evidence-based experience to the community in both physical therapy and injury prevention programs. My primary clinical interest are in injury prevention and performance enhancement, where I have developed a program called TIPTOP (Training for Injury Prevention to Optimize Performance). TIPTOP focuses on appropriate movement patterns that are fundamental for athletics. Once movement patterns have been developed it is much easier to improve performance goals. My unique background and experience make me well positioned to work with individuals to help them “feel…move…live BETTER”.

I am a graduate of Raceland high School and currently reside in Raceland, Ky. with my wife, Stefany and our 2 children (Kaelyn and Dylan). We are members of Russell First Baptist church and have been attending over 10 years. Growing up, sports have always played a big part in my life and now that my kids are involved in sports, I get to enjoy watching them compete and grow into their own unique person. I have been blessed to not only watch them play and compete, but to have coached them and their teammates in multiple sports. I have been able to coach them from Upwards sports to elementary sports and even at the middle school levels. I have served and am serving on the board for the Marv Meredith Youth Basketball leagues (prior to the girl’s division and currently serve on the boys). I have a passion for helping others, and as enjoyable as it is to help teach and instruct young student athletes to grow as players and individuals, it translates well to my profession of Physical Therapy. I am very passionate and enthusiastic in what I do, I strive for excellence, and this allows me to best meet the needs of my patients.
I graduated from Morehead State University in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in Middle Grades Education with components in Math and Science. I then proceeded to obtain an associate degree from Shawnee State University as a Physical Therapist Assistant in 2011. I worked a year in the field as a Physical Therapist Assistant and realized that this was my calling. In 2012, I was accepted to Marshall University School of Physical Therapy inaugural class. I obtained my Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2015. Since obtaining my DPT, I have worked in various settings that have provided me with valuable clinical experience. Working in outpatient physical therapy, it has allowed me to develop and refine my evaluation and treatment skills on various musculoskeletal injuries, status/post-surgical procedures, and vestibular/balance impairments. I am certified to perform Dry Needling in which I use as a compliment, if appropriate, to services that can be provided. I also have experience with skilled nursing rehabilitation, which allows me to evaluate and treat patients with complex medical histories and well as debilitated geriatric population. My current full-time position is with St. Mary's Home Health, this provides me the opportunity to work with an older population and their families in creating increased independence within their homes. My experience has allowed me to be very diverse with my treatment approaches. Whether it be a sports injury, post-surgical, general aches and pains, or debility/falls, I want to assist you in reaching you goals so you can "feel...move...live BETTER".

Outside of the office I garden, ride dirt bikes/4 wheelers and I do some deer hunting. I cut a lot of grass over the summer and try to never miss one of my kid’s sporting events. One of my favorite sayings is "focus determines direction" and I desire to help my patients focus on their health and direct them towards their goals. At the end of the day my role and goal is to help you "feel...move...live BETTER".

I have practiced as the sports dietitian for Marshall University Athletics offering sports nutrition services to the student athletes. I have also been blessed to offer sports performance nutrition oversight to other athletes and active individuals of all ages and sport interests all over the world. I have been teaching nutrition courses at Marshall University since 2012. I am currently an Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Distance Dietetic Internship within the Dietetics Department at Marshall University. I am very passionate about educating our future practitioners as well as educating the public about healthy eating practices and achieving their goals. Although I specialize in sports nutrition, my experiences in education and practice have given me a well-rounded skillset that I can say with confidence that whether your goal is to have better performance in your sport, recover from an injury, improve your health condition or you want to lose weight, I can assist you in meeting your goals so that you can “feel…move…live BETTER”.
